Video meetings with the key in the link.
Glugg encrypts every call in your browser. The key is the part of the link after the #, and browsers never send that part to a server. Not even ours.
Guests join with the link. No app, no account.
meet.glugg.no/ is all our server is asked for.
#r4Q9… is the key. It stays in the browsers of the people you send it to. Yours was made just now, on this page.
How a meeting works
Three steps, and only the first one needs an account.
Start a meeting
Sign in with your email. We send a six-digit code; there is no password to forget or leak. Glugg makes a new link with a fresh key.
Send the link
Paste it into a calendar invite, a chat or an email. Whoever has the link can join, so share it the way you would share a door key.
Talk
Video goes straight between you when your networks allow it. When they don't, our server passes it along, still encrypted.
Privacy
What our server sees, and what it never can.
Calls are encrypted with AES-256 on a key derived from the link. Here is the whole list.
The server sees
- A meeting numberA one-way hash of the key. It can't be turned back into the key.
- Your IP addressWhile you are connected, because that is how calls connect.
- The host's email addressOnly for people who sign in to start meetings.
- How many are in the meetingAnd when each person joins and leaves.
It never sees
- The keyBrowsers keep the part after # to themselves.
- Your video and soundEncrypted before they leave your device, even when relayed.
- The names you typeSent only to the others in the meeting, encrypted.
- A recordingWe don't record calls, and without the key a recording would be noise.
What you get
A meeting room that stays out of the way.
Runs in the browser
Current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, on a laptop or a phone. Nothing to install.
Direct when it can be
A two-person call usually runs straight between you, which keeps delay low and nothing in between.
Adapts to the network
On a weak connection you get fewer frames, never a frozen picture with sound running seconds behind.
The host keeps order
Lock the meeting when everyone is in, remove someone who shouldn't be there, or report a problem.
Servers in Norway
Run by Bogentech under Norwegian law and the GDPR. No ads, no analytics, one cookie.
Up to 50 people
Grid for discussions, spotlight for a presenter. Each person picks their own view.
Questions
Things people ask before the first call.
Do my guests need an account?
No. Anyone with the link can join with just a name. Only the person who starts the meeting signs in. If a guest arrives first, they wait until the host is there.
What stops someone else from joining?
The key in the link is 128 random bits, so it can't be guessed. Anyone you forward the link to can join, though. When everyone is in, the host can lock the meeting.
Can Glugg hand my calls to anyone?
We can only hand over what we have, and that is the list above. We never have the key, so we can't decrypt a call, live or later.
Why does my call say "relayed"?
Some networks, such as many mobile carriers and office firewalls, block direct connections. Then the video goes through our server in Norway. It is encrypted the same way.
Who makes Glugg?
